Mount Etna, the highest active volcano in Europe and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a majestic natural wonder that captivates visitors with its breathtaking volcanic landscapes, including craters and formidable lava flows. If you're planning to visit, you may wonder how to get to Mount Etna. Several options are available, such as public transportation from Catania and Taormina, which are budget-friendly but may be less convenient. Alternatively, you can opt for private transportation by renting a car or booking a service, allowing for greater flexibility. Many people also prefer to join an organized tour that includes transportation, so they can focus on the experience without worrying about logistics.

In addition to its geological majesty, Mount Etna is renowned for its wine tourism or enoturismo, offering visitors the chance to indulge in local wine tastings and explore the cantine dell'Etna. During an Etna Wine Tour, you can savor exquisite wines such as Nerello Mascalese and Carricante, which flourish in the nutrient-rich volcanic soil. This experience not only allows you to taste the locally produced wines but also to engage in a rich sensorial experience that highlights the unique tradizione vinicola of the region.

Mount Etna offers a diverse range of activities for all interests. You can enjoy hiking and excursions across trails for various skill levels, join Jeep tours for an exhilarating exploration of the volcanic terrain, or visit lava caves to experience unique geological formations. Don't miss the chance to taste the locally renowned wines produced in the Etna area, making a visit to a winery a perfect addition to your tour.

As you approach the volcano, prepare to be mesmerized by the scenic beauty of Sicily. About the tour

At almost 11,000 feet, Mount Etna is the highest active volcano in Europe and a World Heritage Site since June 2013. On our half day trip to Etna, you will travel by luxury car to reach the cable car station at 2,000 meters at sea level (7,000 feet).

As you go up, your expert driver will entertain you with commentary about the history and the geological features of Etna, pointing out ancient lava flows. The scenic road to reach the cable car area runs through spectacular vineyards, amazing alpine vegetation and small beautiful medieval villages.

Once we reach the 1,750–1,800 meter line on the northeastern slope of Mt. Etna, we will begin our journey on the Sartorius Trekking trail, which is suitable for families with children. This trek allows us to walk around extinct craters and enjoy the stunning volcanic landscape.

The tour will be guided by an expert nature guide who will provide insights about the area. This experience is designed to be accessible and enjoyable for almost all ages, making it perfect for families.

Afterward, you can relax, perhaps enjoying a coffee while you dream of the next part of your adventure: lunch and wine at your exclusive winery estate.

During the tour of the wine estate, you will learn about the organoleptic characteristics and the ancient growing techniques of the native grape varieties traditionally cultivated on the slopes of Etna, between 350 and 1100 meters above sea level. Once understood all the variables that play a key role in the production of such unique whites and reds, such as climate, soil, pronounced shifts between day and night temperatures, your wine tasting and light lunch accompanied by local specialties will begin.

Don't miss the chance to explore Sicily’s iconic volcano and a top rated Etna Winery on this private tour with us.

Note: While your chauffeur service is private, please be aware that during the wine tours at certain wineries, you may be grouped with other wine enthusiasts. However, rest assured that all tastings and lunch will be conducted in a private setting. Please note that this excursion does not include a visit to the summit crater at approximately 3300 meters; that requires a full-day and separate tour only for this experience.

Do I need a guide to visit Mount Etna?

While it is not mandatory to have a guide to visit Mount Etna, it is highly recommended for several reasons.
